SELECTED ACCOMPLISHMENTS• 2018 – Lead risk ranking for software systems in PNNL’s Operational Systems Directorate per DOE Order 414.1D and ASME NQA-1 (2002). This effort refreshed grading for more than 90% software systems, allowing for risk-based decision making for limited IT resources within the Directorate. • 2013-2015 – Lead PNNL’s Electronic Reporting Tools project for radiological reporting to the Department of Energy. This streamlined approach transitions approved electronic reports simultaneously to the appropriate individuals and to the electronic record system, assuring robust record review and retention for PNNL, PNSO and NNSA. • 2012 – Lead PNNL’s Bioassay Management Tool project. This tool greatly enhances planning of radiological work by merging monitoring needs and defining risk of planned radiological work. Bioassay usage is reduced by 85% over prior system while documenting risk to the individual. • 2011 – Developed PNNL’s business case to self-manage internal, external dosimetry, dosimetric records and instrumentation programs independently from the Hanford Site. Accreditation for internal and external dosimetry programs optimized for laboratory operations. Endorsed by the DOE Office of Science in toto with demonstrated savings in excess of $1 million per annum. SELECTED DUTIES• Management of Dosimetry service center ($2M)• Technical Oversight Representative for Radiobioassay and Dosimetry Services• Subject Matter Expert for Dosimetry, Software, Training and Access Control• Point of Contact for the Department of Energy Laboratory Accreditation Program

Principal Health Physicist at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), Radiation Protection Division. Major career accomplishment was creating the business case for and design of PNNL's Dosimetry Program. Responsible for the Dosimetry Program, monitoring internal and external radiological exposures for all radiological workers within PNNL. Accountabilities also include radiological training, access control, emergency response and primary subject matter expert for quality, including software and safety software within the Radiation Protection Division.

Facility Technical Authority for workplace air monitoring and HP instrumentation. Primary USQ evaluation for radiological control. Review of process and vault design for DOE-STD-3013 packaging of plutonium bearing materials, discovered potential flaws in storage racks which could create unintended geometries during storage. Designed and built criticality alarm test assemblies while recycling otherwise unusable sealed sources. Developed a detailed technical basis for over 500 air sampling locations that was simple to interpret and follow. Used modern data review techniques for rigorous tracking and trending of likely radiological events, long before bioassays surprised management. My report following the 1997 chemical explosion showed that no workers, nor the environment were exposed to airborne plutonium, despite temporary loss of building integrity. This work withstood litigation and depositions. Building emergency organization Radiological Control Hazard Assessor. Provided field technical support for radiological posting and surveys. Lead radiological engineering support for project management.
