Designed luminaires for healthcare environment from concept, through engineering, onto production using various material processes like extrusions, castings and sheet metal fabrication using fluorescent and LED solid state light source technologies according to UL standards. • Reached an inter-company quarter finals Quality Improvement competition involving the redesign of a high sales volume multi-function troffer light fixture family. The improvements achieved the following: • Reduced fabricated parts by 19%. • Reduced fabrication time by 22%. • Reduced assembly time by 37%. • Reduced product weight by 15%. • Improved aesthetics. • Improved serviceability for end user. • Presented conceptual designs for proposed lighting project utilizing freehand and computer rendering. • Supported nearly 80% of existing product by performing engineering and design changes for corrections, quality assurance and improvements. • Conducted research on current design trends using in-house and outside sources for functional and innovative design ideas. • Created work instructions, instruction sheets and bills of material for new and existing products. • Managed the Corrective Action/Preventive Action process per ISO 9001 standards. • Conducted production line inspections and support production with assembly issues. • Collaborated with other engineers and project managers in strategic and conceptual brainstorming sessions regarding design parameters on new projects. • Created part, assembly and drawing files along with wiring diagrams with the use of Soildworks and AutoCAD for new and existing products. • Created prototypes with the use of 3D printer. • Performed first article inspections on initial samples and prototypes. • Expanded technical skills through continuing education courses and outside seminars and webinars.

Performed double duty as a designer and design drafter of decorative light fixtures, taking concept ideas to finished product using computer aided design technology. Provided product specifications to channel vendors, then monitored and managed items to ensure design intent through to the prototype sample for multiple lines and release dates. • Designed top selling 7 piece lighting fixture family from the 2004 catalog sales release. The chandelier from the grouping was featured on the cover of the 2004 catalog. • Utilized 3D modeling to aesthetically and spatially analyze concept drawing in review meetings. • Provided feedback on prototype samples during product review meetings. • Participated in brainstorming sessions for fresh design ideas during quarterly design trend meetings. • Conducted independent research on current design trends using in-house and outside sources for inspirational design ideas. • Conducted independent study towards certification through American Lighting Association (ALA) to supplement my design knowledge within the lighting industry.
