William Ziegler, PMP

while running the fiber optic cable plant development project for the USAF/Boeing, fly by light program I worked with Bob extensively. he was instrumental in building and testing our deliverables. Bob's knowledge of polymer waveguide, fiber optics, and fabrication and testing were instrumental in the success of our protect. subsequently, I have hired Bob on other projects where critical measurement and fabrication of fiber optic components was instrumental to the success of the project.

I had the pleasure of working with Bob, at Optical InterLinks and its predecessor Optical CrossLinks, for more than sixteen years within a high pressure, prototype developing environment. Performing duties as part of a team or individually with a customer, Bob consistently demonstrated a high level of understanding of what was required for success and the resourcefulness to accomplishing those needs. Critical roles within the company filled by Bob included positions as Optical Engineer, Test Engineer, and Assembly Engineer. Bob brought a high level of professionalism to all positions and responsibilities to which he was assigned. I would highly recommend Bob to anyone who is looking for a well-rounded addition to their business as he would be an asset to any team he joined

Responsible for reverse engineering uninterruptible power supply equipment, and developing instruction manuals for the repair technicians. This includes disassembling the equipment, creating assembly drawings and schematics, and making engineering changes to extend the equipment lifetime and improve reliability. I design aftermarket parts to replace originals that are either unavailable or unreliable, and work with vendors to manufacture the parts for us. These may be made from stamped or machined steel, or from injection molded or 3D printed plastic. As part of the re-certification process, failure analysis is performed, circuits are modified when necessary, and replacements for obsolete components are identified and installed, ensuring reliability approaching that of new equipment. I also develop custom modifications to meet unique customer requirements, for example marine applications or locations with non-standard power sources. My other responsibilities include developing specialized electronic test equipment to improve the efficiency of the diagnostic and repair process, and custom tooling to aid in assembly/disassembly As a result of my contributions, Greenlight UPS has become a leading repair service and reseller for UPS equipment by providing economical and reliable UPS solutions for our customers. My primary responsibility was in the development of practical applications for the waveguides. I developed test and assembly hardware, as well as novel designs for connecting waveguides to fiber optic and photonic devices. We developed prototypes for several multinational companies and we were a key contributor to the High Density Packaging User Group, a consortium of over 40 major manufacturers. We supplied polymer waveguide backplanes to their “Optoelectronics II” project. I was responsible for the assembly and testing of the waveguides, and for connector development. I also interacted with the international team to facilitate the installation of the waveguides into their backplane. Show less
