Manage the entire intellectual property portfolio of Cleveland State University including patents, copyright and trademark. Develop and implement innovative and effective strategies to protect and commercialize the intellectual property assets of Cleveland State to meet strategic program initiatives. Assess the patentability of new inventions disclosed by CSU faculty and students. Obtain and maintain intellectual property protection through either external or internal counsel, as appropriate. File patent applications on behalf of the University. Conduct due diligence on the I.P. of potential industrial partners and licensees, as appropriate. Develop and implement novel and effective marketing strategies for University-developed technology. Assist faculty in forming start-up ventures and provide general guidance on commercialization and financing for start-ups. Negotiate and draft license agreements, material transfer agreements, sponsored research agreements, confidentiality agreements and other intellectual property related documents for the University. Prepare and deliver reports and presentations as needed. Advise and educate the University community on matters related to patent law and procedure, technology transfer, copyright law, and business formation and financing. Work and communicate effectively with a broad range of constituents including Cleveland State faculty, students, administration, external counsel patent counsel and other representatives of industry and government. Serve as the Assistant Executive Director and ex-oficio Board Member of the Cleveland State University Research Corporation. Serve as the Compliance Officer for the Office of Research.
