I tried a second time to leave the automotive service world and move on to an educational position. I joined the Van Horn Automotive Group as a Technician Trainer in early 2022. Same result as the first time at LTC in 2010. I LOVE sharing my knowledge and experience with new and upcoming techs, but despite my physical limitations imposed by age and abusing my body for years, I can't let go of the hands on portion of the industry. I left Van Horn to return to A&J, my home away from home. My present position includes training less experienced techs at all locations, full vehicle inspections, creating quotes for repairs on customer vehicles, mechanical and electrical diagnosis for the vehicle or the mobility conversion. Receiving in new vehicles for inventory, used equipment sales, I also handle service parts and shop supply inventories. I have 25 years experience in the collision repair industry which includes an up to date ASE Master Collision Tech cert. I am also ASE certified in all but automatic and manual transmission service. There is little in the automotive service world or the Mobility world that deter me. I have very good fabrication and welding skills as well. In summation, I have a resume you are unlikely to find anywhere else . I LOVE my current position, but I am ALWAYS open to entertaining fresh opportunities.

I am employed as a mechanical / mobility technician with A&J Mobility in Valders, WI. At A&J, we specialize in vehicles that have been modified to accommodate people with disabilities. My specific duties include servicing and reconditioning of used vehicles. I inspect and service all mechanical and electrical systems of the vehicles making sure they meet the high standards A&J requires of their pre-owned units. With 35 years in the automotive field, this portion of the job is second nature to me. The part that I am excited about is the mobility portion of these vehicles. I am learning how to operate, install and service these items. It is a whole new area of mechanical servicing that I have never been exposed to in the past and I welcome the challenge.

As an I-CAR instructor, I would travel the region and meet with groups of auto collision technicians, shop owners and insurance adjusters. My duty was to educate them on the latest automotive technologies related to collision repair. I also kept technicians current with the manufacturers recommended repair procedures for structural and non-structural panels, electrical systems and mechanical systems. While employed with LTC, my responsibilities included assisting students in the classroom and the auto lab. In addition to helping the students, I also handled customer estimates, ordering of parts and shop supplies, final billing and assisting instructors with evaluating students performance in the classroom and auto lab. I worked with both the collision repair and automotive technologies programs. While employed with LTC, my responsibilities included assisting students in the classroom and the auto lab. While employed with Deans I was responsible for both structural and non-structural repairs of collision damaged vehicles. I addressed structural and suspension alignment issues including full frame and unibody alignment along with front and rear suspension alignment. I would diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and air bag systems. In addition to vehicle repairs, I would work with management and insurance adjusters to determine the best plan of action for repairing collision damaged vehicles back to manufacturers specifications.
