• Wellingtonian born and bread • First generation New Zealander – Dutch immigrant parents. • Spent most of his life living bin Wellington‘s Eastern suburbs and still there today. • Educated: St Patrick’s College (Town) and Victoria University. Decided he wanted to be an Architect at 14. Was intrigued when working with his dad (a gas fitter) on the complexity of a church they were working on. Wanted to know who made it all come together. Spent 5 years at Victoria University finishing studies in 1982. Involved in local communities schools and sports clubs while married. Has two grown up children. Son 26 an Engineer & Daughter 23 just finished at Vic Uni and also a NZ Elite Women’s Under Water Hockey champion. Been working in the profession from 1983 Now in a relationship with Jill Skinner. Activities outside work include: • Walking Zoe the Black Labrador.. • Playing Football (Master Five champions 2015) – Clubs Top Shot with 28 goals. • Extreme sports. - Completed a half Iron Man - January this year. - Completed Four Marathons in the last 6 years and numerous half marathons. Professionally. Spent 1983-89 with Coburn Millage and Coburn Architects gaining experience, registration and devloping skills. Residential and Multi Storey Commercial and Multi Unit Developments 1989-1999 - Partnership with Brent Whitwell - Vorstermans Whitwell Architects. Group Housing Schemes, Housing Corporation Projects, NZ Police - Community Police Stations, Police College Buildings and Technical Buildings. Residentail renovations. 1999-2002 - Director at Vorstermans and Associates Architecture Ltd. Experience - Retirement Villages - Athletic Park to Village at the Park. Student Accommodation Development. 2002 - today - Director - Vorstermans Architects Ltd. Wide experience across all fields of architecture. Team of 5-6 support staff.
