    • Software Technical Lead - Digital Publications
      • Feb 1999 - Jul 2011

Working on contract, I was the lead software engineer for highly successful publications suite. I worked on the project from its inception over 12 years ago, and have been involved in all aspects, from identifying customer requirements to delivery and support. The core of this used C++ and web technologies such as XML, XSL, HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Supporting applications and web sites use C# and ASP.NET, Java and JSP. • Software Engineer - Air Traffic Monitoring
      • Jan 1997 - Oct 1997

I was recruited back by Denbridge Digital on contract to take on an existing air-traffic monitoring system which had been partly developed, but was undocumented, untested and incomplete. I reverse engineered the software, identifying its structure, and correcting where necessary. The software was hosted on an embedded VME board, developed in a Unix environment. I created a test suite using a Windows PC and OpenGL to create test scenarios which allowed him to test the software and bring it to completion and acceptance. Show less

    • Software Engineer - ECM Simulation
      • Oct 1996 - Dec 1996

I was recruited back by EASAMS to implement radar and electronic counter measures (ECM) models in an RAF training simulator which was based on products I had previously led at EASAMS. The work used Open GL on Unix (SGI) workstations. • Software Engineer - VTS
      • Jun 1996 - Sep 1996

I worked under contract on software embedded on a VME card. I used a state-transition matrix to design a heart-beat failover system for a maritime vessel tracking system (VTS). Because of the well structured design, I was able to easily adapt the system to allow standby hardware to be used for training. I worked under contract on software embedded on a VME card.
