Training Advisor
-
Oct 2015 - Present
In my role as a Training Advisor I have developed coaching and teaching skills. I feel I am highly effective at managing my time, analysing information and pay close attention to data reports and regularly schedule time to ensure I am keeping my learner’s portfolios up to audit standard. Another essential skill that I have developed is relationship building. Managing a caseload of up to 40 learners in different work places, I have been able to motivate and encourage them to learn new skills and achieve their full potential. Working closely with employers in each placement, I try to attempt to help learners overcome barriers they may be facing and convey company specific messages and goals whilst helping the learner achieve their industry specific qualification as well as their functional skills in maths, English and ICT. In my time at Smart Training I have also gained my IQA qualification and actively use this to support colleagues in their delivery of training. I have also achieved my Award in Education and Training (AET) and Certificate in Education and Training (CET) qualifications which have helped me develop my teaching ability. I have also gained skills in Lean Sigma and process improvement which is now a big part of the training that I deliver. I have also had to adapt from a change of delivery model from face to face to remote delivery using virtual software and now feel comfortable with either methods.

Stock Control and Merchandise Manager
-
Sep 2013 - Sep 2015
I was the stock control manager for the non-food departments in one of the largest Tesco stores in the country with an annual turnover in excess of £100m. I was responsible for managing a team of stock controllers led by a team leader who carry out and maintain all the procedures involved in keeping the stock records accurate across the departments. I also managed a team of merchandisers led by a team leader who are responsible for carrying out all plannogram changes across the whole store. Alongside this I played an active role in the store’s duty management rota which includes responding to all customer service-related and staff issues across the whole store.

Deputy Manager
-
Sep 2009 - Sep 2013
Deputy Manager in a Tesco express, with an annual turnover of £3.8M, from a shop floor less than 2000 square ft in size. It is a very high paced, fast moving environment where quick decision making and problem solving are essential on a daily basis. My main responsibilities were; managing the whole team below me to achieve excellent standards of service and presentation of the shop for our customers. Motivating the management team below me to achieve KPI’s and store specific budgets including payroll, sales, waste and shrinkage. Planning staff and management rotas. Conducting interviews for new staff when necessary. Carrying out staff reviews and training. Managing attendance and disciplinary procedures when necessary. Planning ahead to ensure smooth operation of the store especially over busy seasonal periods such as Christmas, Easter and bank holidays. I was responsible for all in store audits on a weekly rolling basis which includes; safe and legal, shrink, cash, training and price integrity. I actively looked for new opportunities to drive trade using instore ordering system and talking to customers to find out what they want. I had to react to weather changes and react swiftly to minimize the impact to customers. It was important to ensure I had the right people in the right place at the right time.
