The aim of the project is to create a series of online chapters that together will form an entire synthesis of Lower Carboniferous (Tournaisian & Visean) rocks of Ireland. It will act as an update to and will build firmly upon Dr. Michael Philcox' ''Blue Book'' which was published by the I.A.E.G in 1984.The final product will combine detailed lithological descriptions, HD colour photographs, hyperspectral scanning data and correlative sections of lithofacies - all to be made publically available on the GSI website. This project is primarily funded by the GSI and would not have been possible without SFI funded research and contributions from those in iCRAG
