I worked with Rob on many occasion in regards to machine specific issues as it relates to the embossing and encoding cards on several different types of Datacard machines. Rob is a top drawer, second to none machine repair person in the datacard arena.

Tony Vosepjka

Rob was very strong in electronics and computer systems, had a strong interest in mechanics, and learned quickly.

I worked at the Naperville, Illinois branch which closed a few years after I left. When I left my supervisor was Larry Edwards. I left on good terms and went to Card Dynamix for a shorter commute and a little more money. The work was the same as Card Dynamix with slight differences. Emergency fabrication was done by hand using common tools. This branch did not have a lathe or mill. The Virginia facility did have a machine shop.I did most of the electronic board repair. I also did a lot of training for new techs on the high speed embossers. The Datacard 15k was my specialty. I also worked on the Datacard 800 and 9K thermal print, labelers, attachers, Phillipsburg inserters, Oce' printers, magnetic encoders and maintained the air compressor. Show less

START AND END DATES ARE ESTIMATED FOR THIS EMPLOYER AND ALL PREVIOUS ONES. Wired and assembled control panels and electrical cabinets containing Allen Bradley PLCs and motor drives. On occasion I would test ladder logic programs and correct discrepancies. Assembled volumetric powder fillers, bottle sorters, and conveyors. Performed drilling, tapping, cutting, grinding, sanding, and polishing. All the machines built at that time were made out of stainless steel and about half were used in the food industries. (Coffee, tea, powdered milk) The bottle sorters might be used for drinks or other liquids. Show less

Constructed and performed electrical and physical tests. Devices tested were automotive switches and automotive coolant valves. Maintained cycling fixtures within environmental chambers. Used Chatillon digital force tester to measure and graph the feel of automotive switches through their simulated life spans. Also digitally recorded the sound, measured reflectivity, illumination, mega ohms, and conductivity. Performed vibration testing, flow testing, internal pressure testing and self destruct tests involving electrical current overflow and internal pressure. I was the lead tech in the coolant valve test lab. Peformed some calibration tests. Performed electrical and mechanical fabrication as needed.I worked for Eaton through an engineering service known as Espo Engineering. Show less

Computer design of high security master key system key codes. Telephone support of all projects nationally. Although I worked with proprietary software to develop master key systems I also wrote a DOS based BASIC program to help develop cross key systems with minimum amount of cuts and possible keys. The key systems could be very large or prominent. One system was for the U.S. Supreme Court. Assa moved from Romeoville, IL to Brooklyn, NY. I did not wish to relocate. Tested General Motors car computers and soldered in new board level components. Performed plated through hole soldering repairs to GM specs. My supervisor wanted to send me to Delco in Kokomo, Indiana to become a GM certified technican. I was honest with him and let him know I was moving back to Illinois after I graduated and I didn't want him to waste the investment. Technicar was a good place to work and John Sokol was a good supervisor. I left on good terms. This was my last job in Tampa, FL. Originally I was doing PC and AT computer motherboard testing. The company was actually bought out by North American Phillps Corporation and everyone was terminated. After the buyout I reapplied and was hired for quality assurance of components and boards. I was formally trained and tested in plated through hole circuit board repair. Interconics was one of the first companys to have sufrace mount technology and that's why Interconics was purchased. This job was in Tampa, Florida while I was still in school at ITT. Show less
