Randy Bernard

RL worked for me at the Center for Assistive Technology and Environmental Access at Georgia Tech. RL was responsible for all of the centers qualitative research collection and analysis. He was a true advocate for the end user, for the voice of the customer. For him, this was very personal and his work ethic and drive to get to the truth was always evident. While at CATEA RL would set up, organize, plan, create the testing protocol, interview questions, and assist in recruiting for each of the studies. In addition to all of the preparation work, he would also run the interviews with the stakeholder groups. RL should great insight during the interviews. He also showed a great deal of control and command as he would have to maintain order during what could have been a chaotic situation. After all of the data was collected RL would then analyze, categorize, and submit a final report of the study. Based on his findings, the design/development group would begin their work. In almost every case, RL's research help to identify areas not initially recognized as needed or previously known to the development team. This type of information is critical when developing new products. RL has shown time and time again that he is highly capable, a team player, and is able to work independently on any type of project. RL also has shown great leadership abilities during these project. RL was responsible for managing graduate students who assisted him in his work. If in the future I was in need of a highly qualified qualitative researcher or an expert in focus group/interview techniques he would be the first person I would approach.
