My role at SCRS, an international trade association representing clinical research sites, was two-pronged – I served as General Counsel and Vice President. On a day to day basis, my work included overseeing major projects, financial management, and budgeting. I also provide counsel on all legal matters, including negotiations, legal document creation and review, and legal compliance. I actively drafted, negotiated, reviewed, and closed contracts with major pharmaceutical companies on an international scale, with contract values up to $250,000 per year per client. In addition, I prioritized operational improvements, including streamlining systems and processes by identifying redundancies and inefficiencies and developing innovative solutions. We reduced the number of systems and vendors used, reducing errors in communication, improving the process for billing association members, and reducing operating costs. A few notable accomplishments: • Within the first three months of employment I updated contract templates to remedy important missing elements, improving protections for all parties involved. • I oversaw the implementation of a new association management software (AMS) that enhanced member relations, improved invoicing processes, and consolidated database systems. During my time at the US Patent & Trademark Office, I focused on patents. I performed searches on and determined the patentability of patent applications filed with the US PTO. I collaborated with patent attorneys and agents to fix any issues with submitted applications and get the submission into an acceptable condition. In this role I demonstrated a high level of productivity, consisted rated as “fully successful,” which means I met and exceeded stringent threshold measurements of productivity, while still delivering quality service and upholding customer service standards. When I joined Landon IP, I managed relationships with and requests from clients who requested outside patent searches, taking over the role from the company president. I received and filled orders from clients for patent file histories and patent searches, performing novelty, infringement, validity and state-of-the-art searches on clients’ behalf at the US Patent & Trademark Office. Highly productive performance marked my record because I routinely reached over 100% of my set goals. I served as Landon IP’s first in-house patent searcher, a function that was previously outsourced. Though hard work and flexibility, I helped drive patent searches to become a top service provided by the firm. Show less
