  During my Public Health Internship, I learned to serve the following areas of responsibilities and CHES competencies: Area I: Assess Needs, Resources and Capacity for Health Education/Promotion Area II: Plan Health Education/Promotion Area III: Implement Health Education/Promotion Area IV: Conduct Evaluation and Research Related to Health Education/Promotion Area V: Administer and Manage Health Education/Promotion Area VI: Serve as a Health Education/Promotion Resource Person Area VII. Communicate, Promote, and Advocate for Health, Health Education/Promotion, and the Profession. For this Public Health Internship, my major project was based on developing and implementing an awareness program for the Special Supplemental Nutritional Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Department. I was able to create and conduct a community needs assessment for women and children who were currently enrolled in the program as well as those who were enrolled in the past. Based on my needs assessment, I created an toolkit for the WIC Program to help increase program awareness throughout the Chester County. In addition, I received an opportunity to plan and evaluate several other awareness and promotional programs for the WIC Program. My job responsibilities also included collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and disseminating data and results obtained from surveys and questionnaires. Moreover, I also assisted the WIC Director, outreach and breastfeeding coordinators in managing other various project activities. I Show less
