Briefly, in this project, we have developed cell models, including stable cell lines for autophagy and protein aggregation studies, using the advanced genome editing technology- CRISPR/CAS9. Further, these cell models are being used for high throughput screening of numerous natural compounds against various neurological disorders by inducing autophagy. This project has a big potential as these developed cell models can be used in the future by many researchers working on autophagic and neurodegeneration studies.

Oct 2020 - Mar 2021
Received the reputed DBT-RA 2020 grant for the project entitled “To Study the effects of autophagy modulators in the alleviation of breast cancer metastasis” from the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. In this project, we worked on high-throughput screening of various in-house synthesized mTOR inhibitors/autophagy modulators for their cytostatic, cytotoxic and autophagy modulating activities and found some great hits.
