  midNite’s cHiLd Productions is a project created to build the cultural capital of women of color. By supporting the craft of theatre artists whose work centers the experiences, struggles, and histories of “brown girls,” we start changing the imperial gaze of Euro-American theatre. The idea of brown girls and women of color is, to paraphrase Angela Davis, not about racially identifiable features but about radical political projects. midNite’s cHiLd seeks to work cross-culturally, in spite of and because of our differences, with women of color and our allies. Our identities coupled with our art is a point of launching into visibility, thus offering and asserting spaces of political discourse, economic and social opportunities, and cultural transformation.
