      • Mar 2017 - Nov 2018

As a family Development Specialist/Advocate, I can reach and touch families as to open doors for the success of each family and individuals that I serve. The ability to refer and provide to someone in need is really something we have pride on, and we make a purpose to walk along side as they complete their Family Partnership Agreements while they set goals that no matter how small the goal is, I have to have the understanding that perhaps the family member is not ready to set bigger goals, and that it is okay I just need to make myself available to help and be there to the finishing line as a silent partner or a loud one if the need be, as long as they know that a goal is valuable even when they think is not. I am always in thinking mode finding ways to meet the family member in the level in which they are as a person and a family, supporting always and ready to help the family and be ready to assist in what works best to make that family succeed in our society. I am culturally competent bringing down barriers and allowing me to know where families are, and what are they are thinking, having an adjusting character finding a way to meet them with our abilities to their needs, and help them be successful through the program and their goals. I believe that just as our children need the social/emotional food, so are the parents and their families. That is why I must be open to new ideas and have the resources available to educate and to guide families to obtain a rewarding experience in our program and with the same token steer the children to be Kindergarten ready.
