Secured a contract from WACQT (Chalmers) to continue working on my Master's thesis project to study the role of quantum entanglement in the performance of the quantum approximate optimization algorithm. -- Created a general classical toolset to test for quantum advantage in algorithms like QAOA using tensor network techniques. -- Demonstrated that classically approximated QAOA works equally well for certain problems establishing more focused investigations into a quantum advantage using QAOA. -- The devised approximation of QAOA produces between 99.9% to 100% optimal solutions in all 40 and 60-qubit systems studied. -- These findings are made public here: arxiv.org/abs/2207.03404 Show less

-- Created a Classical Quantum Circuit Simulator in python using Tensor Networks. -- Studied the role of entanglement on the performance of the QAOA using the Matrix Product States formalism, a class of one-dimensional Tensor Networks. -- Secured the highest grade for this thesis and was the only other person to obtain this in the history of the program.

Worked on writing ab-initio code for simulating the dynamics of spin focusing devices under the influence of an external magnetic field in the presence of both Rashba and Dresselhaus Spin-orbit coupling. Was involved in trying to provide a theoretical framework for experimentally observed magnetic phenomena in organic crystals. Also dabbled in Organic Crystal Structure Prediction using computational chemistry tools like USPEX. Update: Although previous results were inconclusive, recent experimental results corroborated the theory I had proposed. As of November 2021, a manuscript on this work is currently under review.
