By working with Dr. Paul Brakeman, medical director of the UCSF Pediatric Kidney Transplant Program, I gained hands-on experience in product design, Arduino, and electronics engineering. Our project was to design a fully-functional automated kidney dialysis device for understaffed hospitals in third-world countries. My responsbilities included: - testing of the prototype, particularly its electromechanical actuators - analyzing software and hardware issues - drafting an action plan to improve the design of the final product I also joined Dr. Waqas Khalid's nanotechnology lab, in which the research focus was to improve the efficiency of present-day energy storage technology using carbon nanotubes (CNTs). As part of his team, I explored: - carbon nanotube fabrication - capacitance and dielectrics - energy manufacturing and storage - lithium-ion battery technology - electronics and electrochemistry Using this knowledge, I worked with my subteam to draft a literature review and market analysis on the viability of CNTs in energy storage chips. Skills: Experience with carbon nanotubes, electrochemistry, electrical engineering; prototype, product design and development; Arduino; understanding of experimental research process Show less

I accepted a sales and business operations internship with Mindset Consulting so that I, as an engineering student, could see how technology-oriented businesses deliver products and services to consumers. To this end, I learned about key ideas and processes across sales, marketing, and finance: - Design Thinking, Agile Delivery, Sales Funnel, CRM/SFA, SFDC High-Velocity Sales, Supply Chain Management - Roundtables, Case Studies, Webinars - Markup, Net Income, Gross Margins, Direct Costs, etc. Using the knowledge of business and sales gained through the internship, I was able to: - identify potential new clients and develop Salesforce campaigns targeted towards them - draft campaign cadences, which achieved open rates of up to 42 percent - increase the number of sales contacts for our manufacturing campaign by 275%, and add 1230 new contacts across 42 companies (75% of which were over $1 billion in revenue) to a net new logos campaign I created - grow the number of total sales contacts across four campaigns by 4,200 Skills: Salesforce, Campaign Development, Client Base Development Show less

    • Music and Film Intern (Outreach and Publicity)
      • Jun 2022 - Aug 2022

At iASO Records, I saw how record labels release music and publicize themselves compared to organizations of other industries, all while developing my understanding of Bachata and other musical genres. I also worked with my supervisor to learn about music and film production, as well as grant applications and support letters. As part of the internship, I leveraged my existing knowledge of the business and music spheres to: - identify opportunities for la Academia de Bachata and iASO records to obtain publicity and funding, while also searching for other music and film organizations to partner with - establish partnerships with 6 music and dance schools and festivals in both the US and India by connecting online and organizing meetings in-person to pitch collaboration ideas - identify 91 film festivals worldwide, 67 music schools and organizations across 20 US states, and 17 grant opportunities to look into in the future - design pivot tables based on trends I found particularly important Skills: Film and music production, marketing, writing grant applications and support letters, data collection and analysis Show less

    • Research Apprentice, Social Sciences Division
      • Aug 2021 - Dec 2021

Being a social science research apprentice under Dr. Amy Block Joy introduced me to collegiate-level research. Dr. Joy's goal was to establish a university-wide catalog consisting of advice from older students and faculty on how to choose a college major. My responsbilities included: - developing questionnaires that would gather information from students that have declared majors - segmenting student body into different groups that we would like to push the questionnaires to - recruiting students to answer our questionnaires - writing interview scripts for faculty To accomplish the above, I used my knowledge of Qualtrics surveys and Likert scales developed in the apprenticeship, as well as prior videography and editing experience.
