Project titled 'Characterization of Enhanced Corrosion Resistance of Metallic Thin Films by X-Ray Irradiation' The metallic thin films are created via different methods of sputtering. With NiTiAl being produced by co-sputtering, TiN by reactive sputtering, and our Ti, V, Cu, Ag, and Al films by sputtering. The samples were then irradiated with a rhodium X-ray source, in either air or vacuum atmospheric conditions. Samples were placed in the holder with a 1cm diameter circle exposed to the radiation and the remaining surface was masked. The films were then exposed to nitric acid in concentrations ranging from 1mM to 1M for varying lengths of time. The physical and chemical properties of the treated films were then investigated by X-Ray fluorescence (XRF), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), white light interferometry, profilometry, and Raman spectroscopy.
