Motivating Change Directors head the Motivating Change subgroup. The Motivating Change Subgroup manages the Options and Recovery programs. Options programs serve as educational workshops for students who have had issues with alcohol and/or other drugs. The Recovery program has meetings on-campus twice a month to discuss common issues facing those in substance misuse, eating disorder, or mental health recovery. Be Wise Peer Educator

Peer educators are undergraduate students that provide health and wellness education to their peers through interactive programming and other outreach initiatives. Peer educators are role models and liaisons that connect peers to health and wellness resources on and off campus, and are expected to continue their own growing personal knowledge on topics through educational events through Syracuse, individual research, and an ongoing dialogue between the teams. I was on the Be Wise team. Be Wise peer educators focus on educating and empowering students to make informed choices and decisions regarding the use of alcohol and other substances. This team is committed to making a campus-wide difference through nonjudgmental dialogue in multiple ways such as through Wellness Leadership Institute Presentations like "Alcohol Safety" and "Up in Smoke." This team also runs the Orange Recovery group which is a group that meets weekly to provide a space for students in recovery to be supported in their journey, along with running the Options workshops, which are educational programs aimed towards providing harm reduction strategies to those who may have made unsafe decisions regarding alcohol and other drugs. CAs assist students with their transition to off-campus living in the Syracuse University neighborhood. The Community Ambassadors program matches successful off-campus students with selected blocks in the University neighborhood. Community Ambassadors act as role models on their selected blocks to the residents who live there and serve as a point of contact for student-residents. They also provide access to resources and build community to ease the transition to off-campus living.
