My position as a Safety Officer at Central Washington Univeristy allowed me to work with all employees across campus from administration, faculty, facilities, staff, and student employees while also having the responsibility of keeping them safe. I supported all employees' safe operations by providing training, such as first aid, confined space, fall protection, aerial lift/forklift operations, kitchen safety, office ergonomics, and other safety education courses as needed. I conducted safety inspections of all academic and residential buildings owned and operated by CWU to manage the risk of accidents and injury losses. I conferred with and advised managers, supervisors, and employees on occupational safety and health activities, problems, and needs. The best part about working at Central Washington University was seeing how everything has come full circle. From a young age growing up only a couple blocks from campus and my dad bringing me to "bring your kid to work day" back when I was in elementary school. I always knew I'd go to school at CWU but I didn't ever imagine I would have had the responsibility of keeping my past professors, advisors, and even my dad safe. Go Wildcats! Show less
