I worked as a platoon commander (Lieutenant) with 13th Air Assault Infantry Battalion in Assen, the Netherlands. In this role, I was deployed from Dec '09 till Apr '10 to Uruzgan province, Afghanistan as part of the NATO led International Stabilization and Assistance Force (ISAF).A platoon commander in the Dutch Army is a healthy mix between personnel manager and (training) program planner under peace conditions, and military skills and leadership under operational conditions. Leadership and decision making under stress is a central aspect in this job.
