Mr Shafer taught me a lot not just about RVs, but about good management. He established clear expectations and accountability. He made doing your job easy because you always knew exactly what was expected of you. If there was a procedure or policy question, his response was always "let's discuss that" . . . and then write it down and put it in the handbook so there would be no further confusion going forward. Mr Shafer's attention to detail and open door policy insured that when you were handed a project that stretched your skills, you had appropriate resources to be successful. His particular strength (amongst many, he is one of the most intelligent people I've ever worked for) was in recognizing and developing talent within the organization. He had a knack for putting together a solid team, taking good employees and putting them where they would be most effective in accomplishing the overall goals. I would work for him again and be glad of the opportunity.
