The Nova Institute for Health (formerly Institute for Integrative Health) is a heart-centered think tank that takes action for the good of people, places, and the planet. Our mission is to catalyze new ideas in health, understand the complex network of factors that influence health, and promote the well-being of individuals, communities, and the planet. A 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, the Nova Institute was founded in 2007 by Professor Brian Berman, MD, a pioneer in the field of integrative medicine. Cultivating a broad, transdisciplinary community of thought leaders and partners, the Nova Institute has established an international reputation as a place for exploration and discovery. Serves as chief operating officer (COO) and works closely with the founders and entire Institute team to conceptualize new programs, build infrastructure, and translate vision into action. As the first employee of the Institute in 2007, he served as chief operating officer until 2013, and then returned in early 2019. Show less

Pride's mission is to promote historical maritime education, foster economic development and tourism, and represent the people of Maryland in ports throughout the world. Since her commissioning in 1988, Pride II has traveled to more than 200 ports in 40 countries in North, South, and Central America, Europe, and Asia and become one of the most well-known U.S. sailing vessels in the world. For nearly 40 years, Pride of Baltimore and Pride of Baltimore II have spread positive messages of Baltimore and Maryland throughout the world. We have educated thousands of children and captured the imagination of millions worldwide; fostered economic development and tourism for Maryland; and attracted millions of dollars in ad value from media generated promoting Baltimore and Maryland. As Chief Executive Officer: • Provided strategy and leadership across all functional areas with a goal of forging a new path toward long-term sustainability. Brought on ten new board members and established various committees. • Launched fundraising plan to include major gifts, foundation and government grants, corporate sponsorship, membership, annual appeals and events. • Streamlined operations and developed a more solid infrastructure to increase efficiency, maximize revenue from vessel use, and reduce expenses where possible. • Planned War of 1812 bicentennial events in 2014 so that Pride II could visit as many ports as possible throughout the Chesapeake Bay, thereby raising visibility locally and generating millions of dollars in ad value. • Launched education programs, developed social media strategies to increase engagement, refreshed brand/logo, and streamlined technology infrastructure. • Serving on Maritime Committee at the Maryland Historical Society and on the board of the Greater Baltimore History Alliance.
