I am a self-employed contractor providing Project Management services to the Bournemouth University Estates Department, which has an intensive capital works programme. I manage a range of projects varying in size from £300k to £1.6m and am the focal point for each of these projects. I am responsible for the delivery of each project to time, quality and cost constraints as set by the Project Sponsor. I am responsible for the planning, organising, design, procurement, construction programme, stakeholder management, financial management, project reporting and construction delivery to the highest of standards.

I am currently employed as a contractor through my Limited Company, providing professional services to both Dorset Fire and Rescue Service and Dorset Police.I have worked as the client representative on £59m of new build contracts over the last three years. The projects were on two separate contracts, one a PFI, the other a conventional building contract. The PFI Project consisted of the construction of Poole Fire Station (and training building), Dorchester Fire Station and Dorset Fire and Rescue Services HQ Building (and training building), and the Poole Joint Emergency Services Building (Poole Police Station and Dorset Fire and Rescue Service Divisional HQ). The capital cost of these works was £47m, and all three buildings were completed on time and within budget. My original contract was for the PFI only, but after the successful completion of this project my contract was extended at the request of Dorset Police for the Bournemouth Police Station Contract, valued at £10m, and procured using the JCT Standard Form of Building Contract.Initially I was contracted to manage client change and contractor design development on the PFI Contract, but as my role developed I became the focal client point with the PFI provider, construction team and consultants. In addition to managing the complex change and design processes for both contracts, I also managed routine client matters, and was solely responsible for the technical compliance of the highly complex Custody Suites at both Poole and Bournemouth. Custody suites are technically very challenging, with complex security systems and very exacting Home Office standards to comply with.Poole Custody Suite was described by the Home Office Senior Technical Standards Manager as "as good as a new Custody Suite gets". Bournemouth Custody Suite took those very high standards to a higher level, and I have hosted visits from various Constabularies to both suites during and after the build phases.

I managed the Engineering Services Section for UKAEA, responsible for all maintenance works on the Nuclear Licensed Site. I managed a team initially of 32 UKAEA staff and contractors, with an overall budget of £2.7m. I reduced costs to UKAEA by circa £1m per annum by rationalising and re-structuring the Department, work methodologies, maintenance strategies and contractual arrangements.I Project Managed a variety of complex projects on site, including radio-active decommissioning works, unique demolition contracts, and numerous building refurbishment schemes for both UKAEA and Licensed Site tenants.I was a member of the Development and Planning Team which successfully secured outline planning consent for a number of plots on site. The team also influenced the local and county structure plans, and its' ultimate success was the disposal of the non-Licensed site to the private sector for re-development.
