I worked with Rick Markell at Gingko press for 18 years. Rick was instrumental in the success of the business from day one. After a decade in trade, international and special sales, Rick was promoted Vice President of Sales and Marketing in 2010. One could not ask for a better colleague to fill this role. From special markets initiatives to general trade sales, Rick’s achievements in meeting and exceeding revenue goals in his titular capacity are monumental. Rick’s ability to solve problems quickly and accurately under pressure will be an incredible asset to any organization. Rick’s official title tells only half the story however, as I relied heavily on his creative input in my role as Editor and Publisher. Whether it was consultation regarding design or packaging choices for original in-house publications or Rick’s finely-honed intuition for acquiring licensed titles, I always solicited his opinion. In recent years, I acquired two of the recent Gingko Press bestsellers upon Rick’s recommendation.
