  Digital agency Digitas LBi has partnered with global pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca to create the Digital Innovation Group (DIG). As iOS technologist in DIG I was part of a team developing a new service concept for healthcare professionals. The product (an iPad app to improve the experience of healthcare professionals at large medical conferences) was taken from concept to launch in a short timeframe using rapid development and agile methodologies. Slides from a presentation are displayed in real time on the user device with the user able to capture notes and annotations on each slide as they progress. Working closely with product owner and the UX specialist I created rapid prototypes and proof of concept integrations. An iterative agile process was used to develop the finished product with regular review and demonstration sessions. In collaboration with the server side team and architect I designed the REST interface and micro service architecture. The most significant challenge was the creation of a multi peer network protocol that delivers increased bandwidth in heavily contested wifi networks. The resulting system has been submitted for patent by AstraZeneca. Show less

  Rivo provide health and safety compliance systems to a large customer base of global companies. The flagship Safeguard product has a very high degree of client customisation to deliver bespoke management of a companies health and safety requirements. The Safeguard mobile app delivers custom form interfaces that are completely described in JSON retrieved from a server based configuration tool. As the mobile architect I worked with Rivo’s Technical Architect to design the RESTful API to deliver the form descriptions and receive completed form data. I worked with the Android specialist to create a common architecture and solution for generating UI from JSON descriptions. I developed the shared set of layout and interaction syntaxes used to define the forms and their functionality. As iOS specialist I developed the objective c frameworks for the network layer, REST interface, model abstraction, data cache, offline operations and layout engine. All UI elements were developed for iOS7 only. Working closely with the product owner and design team I produced several prototype apps to demonstrate UI concepts and key user experiences from the wireframes. Show less

  Working closely with the CTO I created a set of objective-c frameworks to be used by the development team to deliver the Snupps iOS application. The goal of the framework was to abstract and encapsulate as much of the internals of iOS program flow and web service interaction as possible enabling the development team to make rapid prototypes that are very close to production grade and have long term maintainability. By applying a much more concise implementation of the MVC pattern to iOS, creation of views that automatically update based on the RESTful API model changes is reduced to a few simple lines.
