I have been volunteering under Rich's direct supervision in the children's ministry at Grace Church for the past 6 to 8 years or so. He has demonstrated a variety of management skills in order to keep the Children's church fully staffed with competent, properly screened and trained volunteers for the many age groups in the time slots needed for the various services and events. To me managing volunteers is much more difficult then employees in that not only do they have to want to come back, but the volunteer scheduling must be continuously revised and not everyone feels that they must call-in or provide notice. I have seen him handle dozens of volunteers while still being able to take real time to talk to and get to know the little ones (attendance has ranged from dozens to hundreds of kids over the years). On top of managing staff, he also has had to handle the parents and their custodial agreements, children with special needs, as well as interface with church management and policies. All while preparing interactive lessons and actually teaching the children. I have seen him resolve every one of the many challenges presented to him with a genuine positive attitude. I have the utmost faith in Rich's ability to supervise, manage, train, and retain a staff. I would work with and for Rich in any capacity.
