Cost Engineer with roles of LEAN Champion and Quality Manager
-
Feb 2015 - Jan 2016
I was hired in the position of Cost Engineer for the factory but had additional roles in my job. I was made the site's LEAN Champion to lead the implementation of LEAN at the factory site. I was also in the Quality Manager role within the Customer Care area. In my role of Cost Engineer, my responsibility is to provide a base cost for products to our quotes department so they can provide final pricing to the customer. In my role as LEAN Champion, I was to implement LEAN Manufacturing processes in our factory. I completed the Philips End2End LEAN Leadership program which is a two week long off-site program designed to train people to implement LEAN in their factory or work place. In my role as Quality Manager, I work to resolve customer issues with our products. This can involve diagnosing issues based on customer provided information and providing replacement parts and instructions for them to fix the issues in the field or sometimes it requires them to return the product for diagnosis and repair. I have previous lighting experience and work closely with the R&D Team providing ideas and feedback on new and existing designs, many of which have been incorporated into final products. I also have a strong LED background and am able to advise on new LED technology and implementation.

Sustaining Engineer

Jun 2010 - Jan 2015
Worked on day shift for first 5 months where I completed training and transitioned to running and planning 3-5 MOCVD reactors with little help in a 24x7 semiconductor manufacturing environment.Primary job responsibilities included evaluating reactor performance and planning the running schedule for the next 24-36 hours and implementing ideas to improve or sustain performance in the areas where it was needed or stopping production runs to run test runs to address major process issues as they surfaced. Secondary job responsibilities involved project groups to improve process yield through data analysis and experiments. I was on a team working to reduce defects in the Epi layers, we were able to lower the defect rate through analysis of data and evaluation of equipment and process variables. After 5 months moved to second shift. On second shift I was responsible for monitoring 10-30 reactors a night and responding to process shifts and evaluation ideas from day shift on whether to integrate them into the recipe going forward or if another idea is needed. If process shifts occurred I was responsible for stopping production runs and running test runs to fix the process or responding in LED as needed. Secondary responsibilities continued to be projects based on improving process yield, improving process documentation and training materials.
