Highly infective and genuine, authentic, sometimes almost clairvoyant, great guy, with an eye for talent. When you meet Richard, there is no way you will forget Richard. One in a million.

LinkedIn User

Richard is a contagiously motivating person who is very well versed in explaining his ideas to you, and making you want to be a part of them. He has great ideas and, contrary to many people, knows how to bring them to fruition. It is hard to find someone who can be described as a dreamer, as well as an effective business man. But Richard can only be seen as such: his ideas are passionate and imaginative, and his execution is creative and concise.

Raymond Swart

Bevlogen, enthousiast en soms onnavolgbaar in z'n creatieve denkproces, dat is Richard. Dit gecombineerd met zijn uitermate vriendelijke en positieve natuur maken het een fanatstische ervaring om met hem te werken.

I inherited my dad's software products: Caisson + Spudpen. I therefore set up 'CASK' an acronym for Caisson_VHM Steve Kay - to continue his civil engineering software legacy and keep on creating independent software tools for geo and civil engineers:Caisson_VHM: Allows you to calculate 'how deep' a (mono) suction pile should be drilled in the seafloor bed for your oil rig or windturbine in a near or offshore intermediate foundation.Spudpen: Is also a calculation program especially designed for spudcan penetration and jack-up rigs and based on the ISO 19905-1 standarisation. These software tools are proven technology and trusted by the industry and have been in use for almost a decade (2012) and have been developed by Msc. Bs. Steve Kay (my dad) who has over 30 years civil and offshore engineering knowledge and experience and wrote 40+ scientific papers and a book on 'intermediate foundation' .... more info: www.casksoftware.com / www.stevekay.nl

A befriended director asked me if I would like to do a masterclass about business and IT. And so I did. Then a student asked me: Why do you teach? Do you need the money? I said: 'No. I teach because I want to have less muppets in my industry. So if you pay attention, you might actually learn a thing or two'. Anyways, there I was teaching - 1 day in the week - and still like it. Sharing knowledge to the future managers / young entrepreneurs on how to set up business, business models, market fit, strategy, set up sales, marketing, .. how to negotiate and anything else that would be useful information or tooling that one should need in a commercial industry. I still have good contact with most of the students who consult me from time to time :-)

Basically I was closing the gap between the 'nerds' and the 'business' - I would join sales meetings on a regular basis and provide in-depth technical software related questions with a commercial beneficial ring to it. All of the projects that we did where software related and it was a really nice company! I left because I wanted to pursue my own entrepreneurship development. Figured out how to automate and optimize manual 'data entry' stuff and gain 80% time efficiency with help of programmer (who I 'scouted' in the lunch room of Agis Zorgverzekeringen) - further more I did technical and functional analysis on AWBZ/PGB (personal financial budget) within the insurance industry. I told the 'boss' at The Beagle Armada that I knew how to make his PGB/AWBZ software product solution better. So I did - in collaboration with his software development team. I helped with improving their Graphic User Interface, technical and functional requirements analysis and provided a translated (Dutch to English) consultancy report for PGB/AWBZ software team and their consultants.
