  The voluntary job included being available for Wildfire Suppression Services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. During active fire season, standby duty at the local firebase was compulsory. As experience was gained became involved in training of new recruits. Another requirement of VWS was being part of education and awareness programmes for the general public and schools. Participated in running several awareness events, from Open Base Days, participating in demonstrations, to running recruitment and awareness stalls, and trail run fund-raisers. Also became a active member of the marketing team and was responsible for creating promotional online and offline collateral. Show less
