As part of the Freezer shift, it's always recommended you are fully wrapped in everything. It's cold. Like, Antarctica's coast cold. We're talking about below -30 degrees Fahrenheit everyday. Your job here is to place stickers onto the boxes in the freezer and stack them onto a cart which is pulled by a tugger (Not your hands, thank God). Once you have all that stacked, you then get out of the freezer and take them to the dock number assigned to it. During most of my time at Home Depot I did both Receiving (7pm-11pm) and Freight shifts (9pm-6am). Receiving was mostly taking items from inside the truck onto a conveyor belt and the co-workers outside the truck placed those items on a cart that has the same aisle number as the label of the item. When we have any time left (which we almost always had) we would put those items away in the store by either replenishment or restacking. Once the customers leave, some of the Freight crew (the people who were certified on the forklift) would go ahead and reorganize the overhead. Mind you, this process takes the entire night as the amount of stuff that comes in is a lot so it requires a decent amount of planning before getting started with it. For the last hour you would clean before the store opens. Show less
