Engaged on a contract basis as the Group Financial Controller (2IC) the key requirement - in addition to the day-to-day FC responsibilities - was to stabilise the group’s finance team to create one consolidated finance function that was in a suitable position to be handed over to a new permanent FC. The Finance Team is now leaner and more efficient with clearly defined roles. I also improved the quality and reliability of the management accounts and board reports and introduced channel reporting for different business units. I prepared an annual operating plan to track results and position the expected annual result for the COO and wider Board. Following a handover to the permanent FC, I have continued at the company on a project basis. This has included due diligence work on potential acquisitions and guiding the finance team in their preparation for the half-year audit, including liaising with external auditors and tax advisors.
