Optimized the differentiation and manufacturing of cardiomyocytes derived from human induced pluripotent stem cells Investigated cardiotoxicity through high-throughput drug assays with multiplexed immunofluorescence imaging Assisted in adult mouse heart isolations and assayed the cells for high-throughput drug screening Operated and managed multiple kinetic image cytometers to measure calcium transients, voltage, and contraction of cells Analyzed and presented data obtained from high-throughput assays using Vala’s CyteSeer analysis software Show less

Designed and performed multiple experiments using a biomechanical stretching device with self-developed protocols to examine the effects of cyclic strain on 20 different patient specific cell lines with and without LMNA mutations Differentiated induced pluripotent stem cells of patient specific cell lines into cardiomyocytes to investigate how the LMNA mutation affects the structure and function of cardiac tissue through the use of a Heart-on-a-Chip device Developed a new in vitro approach to study how cells organize in the heart through the combination of co-cultures and the application of cyclic strain Utilized drugs to inhibit intercellular junction formation to study the effects of cell-cell contact on cellular organization of cardiac cells in response to cyclic mechanical strain Simultaneously lead multiple interdisciplinary collaborations to explore how different mechanical strain profiles or microfluidic stimulation could affect cells with the LMNA mutation Wrote an Institutional Review Board proposal and worked with the reviewers to get it successfully approved Managed and oversaw multiple undergraduate and graduate students’ daily tasks and research projects Show less
