I have had the pleasure of working with Rich on and off for the past two decades in corporate structures ranging from a lean entrepreneurial environment where we have co-authored patents in his formulator days, to a large multi-tiered organization where he focused on system engineering. I have worked with Rich off and on over the last fifteen years. Recently, we both worked on a major project where he was the media integration engineer. We were accrediting a new factory for our entire product line. The accreditation was very complicated--involving different products, different conditions for product printing, and dozens of variables that needed to be tested. Rich played a major role in planning this complicated task, and he improved our efficiency by creating more automated data gathering. He had to collate data from over a dozen different technicians and make sure that it was gathered and reported in the same way. He then had to do sophisticated data analysis to boil this down into succinct conclusions that managers could digest. Rich also showed a lot of leadership on this project. The technicians did not report to him directly but were matrixed to him. They also were asked to work additional hours and in taxing environments. He was able to deal with the inherent friction that occurred and kept his team happily productive. He did this by listening to their concerns and knowing when to get involved and when to just listen. The group ended up acting like a well oiled machine. Rich can deal with complicated situations--both technically and people-wise. He is hard working, has good technical skills and excellent people skills. He approaches everything with a can-do attitude and he delivers what he promises. I would be glad to have Rich on my team anytime and everytime.
