Responsible for supporting the various deployments of the Ionix ultrasonic monitoring technology around the world engaging with customers and end users throughout the product development, sales and deployment pipelines including initial surveys, installation, commissioning and review of generated data. Ionix Advanced Technologies specialises in high performance, extreme environment piezoelectric devices, systems and materials, offering a range of sensors, actuators and transducer devices based on its novel piezoelectric materials, with applications in areas such as non-destructive testing/evaluation (NDT/E) condition monitoring and flow measurement in demanding environments. Ionix has developed novel range of high temperature piezoelectric materials, which can operate in extreme environments in excess of 500 °C and with which opens the opportunity to a whole host of new high temperature sensing technologies. Customers including world leaders within the oil and gas, energy, nuclear, process control and manufacturing industries.

    • Multi disciplined NDT technician & Welding Inspector
      • May 2016 - Dec 2021

I play an integral role as part of an experienced multi-disciplined NDT team carrying out a wide range of NDT techniques on a daily basis including advanced NDT as well as the more common techniques such as Ultrasonic Inspection, Magnetic particle Inspection, Liquid Penetrant Inspection & visual Inspection. I manage and run all aspects of a ‘Responsible Welding Coordinators' course from recruiting, teaching and conducting on site auditing in line with BS EN ISO 1090-1/2 & BS EN ISO- 14731. The course is a condensed version of a CSWIP Welding Inspection course which covers aspects of weld design, Welding variables, different welding processes, calibration, NDT and Heat Treatment requirements giving managers in the fabrication industry an understanding of how to conforms to CE compliance in the industry, the course is delivered at the level of a PCN Level 2 / CSWIP 3.1 / 3.2 welding inspector’s course. Alongside my duties as a multi-disciplined technician and senior training lecturer I am responsible for instrumentation review to make sure the correct / most effective NDT techniques are implemented for our clients, and overseeing reports before being sent to clients, recent contracts have used a variety of inspection methods such as Phased Array, UT Surface waves probes, structural re-bar locating equipment, PMI testing, Hilti pull testing equipment and Thermal surveys using current drone technology. An important role I oversee at Belmont is to periodically review and implement our Quality Management System to ISO 9001-2015, as part of this I am also responsible for Environmental management ISO 14001

Contracted to BP at their Salt End chemical plant as part of the team conducting a 2 yearly shutdown. I worked as part of the Ultrasonic IRIS and pulsed Eddy Current tube inspection team carrying out advanced NDT on multiply heat exchanger bundles, this gave me a good understanding of more specialised methods of NDT, I also managed a four man NDT team responsible for carrying out Ultrasonic weld scanning, visual weld inspection, Magnetic particle Inspection and Liquid penetrant testing, In this role I was responsible for

To summarise in that time I deployed to Afghanistan as a Corporal as part of operation Herrick, taking command of a 8 to 10 man section in a variety of tasks from operational deployments to providing humanitarian aid and everything in-between. With such a wide range of undertakings my individual man management skills proved essential and where thoroughly tested. In 2012 I specialised as a Heavy weapons anti tanks operator, becoming proficient in operating and maintaining variety of different weapon systems in different environments. As well as Heavy weapons I worked closely with Assault Engineers I was trained to build bridges, field defences, obstacles and other structures used in commando operations. I also trained in mine warfare, demolition and the use of explosives. My last years were spent on different operations around the world including Europe the USA and the Middle East.
