Whilst I managed the full range of cases, I had a particular interest in the management of the following case types:▪ Disciplinary (both in the primary and secondary setting).▪ Criminal (I have managed many cases relating to the allegation of sexual assault arisingin the context of the clinical consultation).▪ GMC.In my capacity as Cases Decision Lead, I was approached several times per day for advice in relation to strategic matters relating to cases (for example; is it appropriate to instruct a QC?; Does the request for assistance fall within the scope of the benefits of membership?; Is the member in the correct category of membership? etc)Development of guidance:▪ In my capacity of Cases Decision Lead I developed a suite of documents to assist file handlers in relation to the management of cases and to provide standards by which files can be audited.▪ I developed MPS templates to assist members in relation to writing reports and responding to complaints.▪ I was involved in the production and review of MPS fact sheets and in particular was the author of the MPS fact sheet entitled “Dealing with the non-compliant patient”.▪ I was involved in developing guidance for colleagues in relation to the GMC procedures (in particular as to when it would be appropriate to respond at an early stage).
