Jim Mercer
I had the pleasure of having Richard as part of my leadership team. He is a high-energy self-starter who gets things done and inspires his team members to do the same. As a technical leader, he not only managed a team of people, queues, meetings, power points etc., but made it a point to stay abreast of the technology. In fact, he would proactively deliver Ingres training to other teams to help keep them up to date on recent functional changes. As the leader of the Ingres Integration Group, Richard acted as liaison between CA and Ingres Corp. He was a key point person for nearly every development and support team within CA for the Ingres technology and was often called in to help solve difficult customer-related escalations.

• Responsible for six products known as CA Client Automation, including; Software Delivery, Asset Management, Remote Control, Asset Intelligence, Patch Manager and Desktop Migration Manager. • Managed a global team based in UK, US, Germany, The Netherlands and India. • Implemented Change Management tools ensuring both the Development and Level2 teams changes were known and reviewed, before being checked into code to ensure no regression of customer issues as well as new feature inclusion, allowing customers to see what fixes were included to allow them a seamless upgrade. • Project managed annual Service Pack releases of customer fixes whilst manging the support of annual Development releases. • Customer Account Management ensuring customers issues were resolved in a timely manner, especially for High Value customers aiding the renewals of these accounts and maintaining revenue. • Inclusion and Diversity: Was part of the Generational activity and collected, on behalf of the team, a Highly Commended award at the recent 2015 ENEI ceremony at the Law Society in London. • Learning for work: Mentored some at-risk teenagers at a local school, Churchmead in Datchet, to enable them to be ready for work when they left school.
