I am currently active in developing strategies for clients in the Energy, Utilities and Resources (EU&R) sectors. Specific focus is being given to the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) play of the strategies we develop. This is in pursuit of meeting the world's climate goals whilst meaningfully contributing to the development of the nation. ESG will be a key driver for business development in the post covid world as the "Net Zero" target continues to reshape the way businesses must operate. I am eager to develop solutions in this space and looking forward to building transformation strategies across the three ESG pillars which ultimately drive and underpin best in class business practices. As a Future for the Foundation graduate I partook in an 18 month rotational programme in PwC's consulting practice. I had exposure to several consulting teams and was provided with the opportunity to contribute to clients both in the public and private sector. The experience was enriching and deeply broadened my knowledge in multiple industries. As an introduction to management consulting the graduate programme served me well and has provided me with the necessary skill set to effectively operate as a consultant. Show less

I joined Rotocarb in 2018 at the point it was launching from a pilot project to a commercial company. I was tasked with developing the company's market presence and day to day operational efficiencies. My responsibilities spanned across process engineering, maintenance engineering, project management, business system development, sales, marketing, product research and development and logistics optimization. The diversity of the role made it a unique opportunity with many enriching learning experiences and provided me with a great base knowledge on how to build a company. Today, Rotocarb (Pty) Ltd is South Africa’s largest producer of sustainable Activated Carbons (AC), manufacturing its AC from macadamia nut shells through a steam activation process. Show less

    • Bar-Back
      • Dec 2016 - Mar 2017

As the bar-back at Casa Tua, my task was to simplify the bartender's work-load by being involved in the preparation and running of the bar. This included taking orders, informing guests of the evening specials, stocking the bar, preparing garnishes, polishing glassware, bussing tables, and cleaning and packing up. My colleague, JP, and I ran the downstairs bar at Casa Tua, Aspen. The set-up was intimate, seating 12 guests. Being friendly, attentive and comfortable with making small-talk to guests was key to successfully running the relaxed and enjoyable bar that we did. Show less

Jus Aspen makes and sells freshly pressed juices and light snacks on site. As a short-term manager, I assisted in the logistics of running the store (dry and fresh produce stock take, manufacturing efficiency, bottling supplies, bottle recycling, juicing, deliveries and people relations). In addition to the daily running of the store, I would assist in the front of house sales and ensure clients received quality service to the best of my abilities. I advertised and sold demo Airush Kiteboarding gear in Cape Town while I was a student at UCT. This involved photographing kiting items, providing details of the equipment, utilising social platforms to advertise, and meeting with customers to display the equipment on sale. The sales of the demo gear were important for the Airush R&D department as it enabled a return to be generated on demo items. This in turn reduced the cost of product development and extended the divisions budget. I advertised and sold demo Airush Kiteboarding gear in Cape Town while I was a student at UCT. Throughout my studies at the University of Cape Town (2012 - 2016) I worked at Thermopower Furnaces (TPF) during the vacation periods, spending just over six months with the company. The tasks and projects I worked on were targeted at a level that suited my engineering knowledge at the time. This allowed the key principles from my studies to be tested and consolidated. I was exposed to both the factory and office environments during my times there. Being involved in the factory environment provided great exposure for developing my skills in tool selection, tool handling, and general factory manufacturing. I achieved basic competencies in welding, turning, milling, tapping, element wiring, jig fixtures and general assembly. In addition to this I was also exposed to the maintenance of equipment and machinery on site. The office environment allowed me to utilise my design skills and interact with the company engineers on a daily basis. My work was supervised and often entailed elements to do with rotary kiln design (motor selection, gearing design, bearing design, plant infrastructure and basic chemistry - to understand the mineral processing). I sat in on several company board meetings which detailed the week's agenda. These were greatly beneficial in observing how responsibilities were delegated and how various company matters were handled. In addition to this, I was exposed to several customers, their sites, and examples of maintaining healthy relationships with clientele. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in the office and on the factory floor and appreciate all that I've learnt over the years from TPF. Thermopower Furnaces caters to a broad spectrum of industries which include among others the major mining segments, the petro-chemical industry, mineral beneficiation processes and individual projects requiring specific thermal processing. They are a specialist in innovative furnace design and thermodynamic processes. Show less
