Jan 2009 - Dec 2010
After working along side AE Fire on a project for Dracon National I was approached to come work for them on a big project undertaking in the form of Cape Town International Airport upgrades ahead of the 2010 Soccer World Cup. I saw this as a big career opportuniy and new challenge in an industry I knew nothing about and left Dracon National on sad but good terms. At AE Fire I was responsible for the Cape Town Airport project for the installation of their automatic fire sprinkler system and fire hydrants. I quickly got up to speed on the rational fire design and rules side of the systems and was responsible for. •Attending all meetings with Architects, Rational fire design team and the main contractor •Taking the project from design to completion and sign off with the ASIB (fire protection authority in South Africa) •Generating material orders and cutting lists for steel pipework •Programming and planning of all work and labour resources •All pressure testing and certification of the systems •Preparing measured monthly claims for the company to the main contractors •Working with the service coordination team to rectify design clashes between services like A/C, plumbing, electrical and our fire piping •All aspects of quality control and snagging •Attending health and safety planning and meetings Show less
