Richard focuses mainly on work within the education and commercial sectors, often within highly sensitive contexts. He says, “The education projects I have been involved with since joining Orms demonstrate a strong respect for context – as well as an in-depth understanding of pedagogical approaches. This is particularly true for the performing arts centre at The Kings School in Ely, and also more recent work at Sherborne and Highgate schools and The American School in London. Much of the expertise developed in these education projects has also translated to our work in the commercial sector, which often involves designing within London’s historic core. Such work includes new-build offices on Grosvenor Street as well as refurbishment projects in Mayfair and on Hanover Square.” Richard heads up technical workshops and reviews within the Orms studio, and outside the office is a governor at Woodside School in Walthamstow.
