      I studied and received a National Diploma and Tradesman Certificate whilst working my way through the ranks. I came into contact with all spheres of the Radio Technical Unit during my years and my ability to show interest and learn opened the doors to new frontiers. I later worked as a project manager where my responsibilities included various tasks such as compilation of specifications for radios, repeaters and associated radio related solutions. I was one of a key group ensuring that Radio Technical played a valuable role and showed tremendous ability during various inaugurations and large events. My passion for my work paved the way and I became a key player in providing radio communication beyond South Africa's borders I provided the baseline and assisted with an international project on the development and implementation of a radio strategy for the police of the Democratic Republic of Congo (2005/2006). This project allowed a rebuild a police radio communications network. I was later tasked as the Radio Network Engineer responsible for new designs of radio systems and providing key assistance to the provinces. Responsibilities included:• Component level repair of radio desktops and repeaters• Managing of high site infrastructure and frequencies• Investigations of special electronic requirements of the SAPS• Research of radio/electronic products to facilitate in the compilation of appropriate technical specifications for bidding purposes• Management of special projects for the use of radio equipment during operations, where the current infrastructure cannot support the requirements of the SAPS• The compilation of all radio and relevant electronic equipment specifications for bidding purposes:• The development, design, specifying, procuring and contract management of all new radio networks and systems in the SAPS• Liaison with external entities on co-sharing of facilities and regulations
