Major Government Agency (June 2012 - Present)Capgemini are implementing a SOA-based solution to bring together a number of separate services developed by several different third parties. I am responsible for reviewing the code for each component as it is finished, checking for compliance with security policies and coding standards before approving for deployment. This is a challenging role encompassing several different technologies including Java, SQL and XML, requiring a good grasp of the overall solution design and technical implementation.Other duties include configuration of the environments using Oracle EBS to reflect updates to the business rules of the system, as well as functional testing of both the user interface and the business rules engine to ensure compliance with requirements.Technologies Used:SQL and PL/SQLXMLJava / J2EEOracle EBS

Major Government Agency (November 2011 - June 2012)The client is looking to create a new data warehouse which will provide the raw data for a web-based BI dashboard to provide better and more flexible access to it. The system is consolidated from 3 disparate legacy systems and contains hundreds of millions of records.I have been brought in to support the System Integration Test phase, working across the full development life-cycle from initial load to the front-end itself.Day to day duties are varied, but include the creation and execution of test scripts and development work on the ETL and websphere side.In order to reduce delays in development time and defect turnaround, I have designed and developed a couple of tools to support the development team. One of these is a bespoke data obfuscation tool which enables client data to be safely worked on off-site, and another is a cut-down tool which will shrink the data stored in a database to x% of its original size while maintaining referential integrity. My intention is to eventually merge these tools into one complete solution for wider usage.Technologies used:PL/SQLOracle 11gInformatica 9UNIXJ2EEMajor Government Agency (July 2011 - October 2011)The client was implementing a large-scale rollout of a sophisticated new printing system across hundreds of sites within the UK. I was responsible for visiting the sites and facilitating the installation by overseeing and organising the deployment and interfacing with the end users to ensure smooth delivery and a minimum of downtime for the client, dealing with complications and issues as they arose.I also supported the project management team, creating spreadsheets, scripts and macros in Visual Basic to make accessing and organising the huge quantity of data more expedient and efficient in preparation for moving onto the next phase of deployment.
