At my current company I use Solidworks for modelling/drawing of various marine protection systems and flow simulation within these, in addition to stress analysis. I am tasked with maintaining project delivery schedules from receipt of order and to keep track on progress of projects. I have also performed analysis of existing manufacturing techniques for continuous improvement on various product branches.

Mar 2012 - Sep 2013
After six months as an applications engineer I was promoted to the position of project manager in the aftermarket department. Whilst here I have developed my understanding of manufacturing processes, timescales and pricing structures. I liaise directly with customers, manage suppliers and manage production of my various projects. I still perform all of the tasks from my previous role but have adapted them to the service side of the business. I have extended my responsibilities by:• Developing a sales pitch of the service centre on site aimed at potential customers• Understanding the variations of products and different design configurations• Developing a tracking system of current projects to work with our shop floor personnel• Broadening my scope of work to include assisting with spares quoting and project management of international projects• Entertaining international customers after work hoursMy role requires me to:• Use the SAP production system, and work to ‘Just In Time’ processes• Work to ASME, API 610 and various other standards relevant to the pump manufacturing industry• Work with high pressure applications and NDT requirements Show less

Applications Engineer
-
Sep 2011 - Mar 2012
Within a month of graduating I secured a role at a major global manufacturing company, who produce heavy duty pumps for the oil and gas industry, both onshore and offshore. I started as an applications engineer to develop my understanding of pumps, systems and characteristic behaviour of the equipment. Responsibilities included:• Quoting for packages for major worldwide installations• Using Intelliquip software to select a suitable solution for pumping duties given customer constraints• Developing legal understanding of contract work• Liaising with suppliers to provide efficient solutions to timescale and technical problems Show less

Model Technician
-
Sep 2008 - Jul 2009
I secured an 11 month contract working as both a 3D and 2D model technician. Whilst working I developed my professional skills, such as: • engineering judgement, by working to specific tolerances • responsibility to make the full scientific models. I worked on a number of globally demanding projects. I initially assisted with the design, construction and testing of physical models within a small team. Later I took a more responsible role, running physical model tests, assisting with written reports, communicating ideas and more complex 3D analysis. I passed on my expanded knowledge to new graduates in that field starting later than myself. Skills Gained: • Ability to be pragmatic and make informed decisions on the spot • Communication skills – tacit and explicit knowledge learned was passed on in the form of training to more recent starters • Management skills by organising schedules, people, report writing and math’s based problems Show less
