Sep 2017 - Present
Performed research under Dr. Robert Yasuda to examine the α5 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor in mouse brains and its subunit N398 variant through CRISPR-Cas9 manipulation. The ultimate goal of the study being to understand the physiological components behind addiction. The study involves molecular biological techniques such as plasmid purification, restriction digestion, and cDNA construction as well as electrophysiology. I also compared the expression and molecular size of nAChR subunits using immunoblot techniques and used ligand binding assays to look at competition receptor binding of nicotine and AT-1001.
