3rd Engineer

Apr 2009 - Feb 2012
During my time here as 3rd Engineer I was a watch keeping engineer on board the cross-channel ferries. These ships have 4 medium speed, main engines, with varible pitch propellers driven through hydraulically operated clutches and gearboxes. I worked a rota system whereby responsibility of all machinery maintenance was split between the watch keeping engineers. I have utilised all my experience from previous years with machinery from various manufacturers, resulting in a comprehensive knowledge of maintenance, repair and replacement of critical mechanical components. I also completed 2 drydock/ refit periods in Dunkerque Drydock.
