During the placement in Longitude i was able to develop my engineering analysis skills, specialising in the offshore wind farms sector. I was responsible for several cable installation analysis and I was the main naval architect for the concept design of a 110m cable lay vessel.Below is a list of the main projects i was involved:- Project Manager Assistant for Costa Concordia Site Remediation, legacy project from LOC London. Provide technical and cost evaluation for large variation orders. Involved in the discussion and approval for the next phase of the works, site restauration- Cable Lay Vessel Concept Design - Main Naval Architect- North Sea Link Interconnector Lay Analysis – Main Engineer- Northern OWF Cable Protection System Structural Analysis (ULS, VIV, FLS) – Main Engineer- Performed Orcaflex ULS and VIV analysis for CPS and Cable for Offshore Wind Farms- Developed Orcaflex soil interaction model to represent the reaction forces of a buried cable- Developed MOSES / WAMMIT hydrodynamic models from lines plan to produce RAOs- Developed several Python scripts for pre / post processing in Orcaflex to reduce the run time of simulations- Developed Python script to carry out mooring analysis in frequency domain in Orcaflex- Performed de-rating calculations for crawler crane based on ABS standards Show less

While being at LOC i was exposed to a large variety of projects which allowed me to gain familiarity with both the shipping industry, including wreck removal operations, and the oil and gas industry. Below a summary of the main projects involvement during the LOC placement: - Client Representative for Costa Concordia Site Remediation. Involved in the long site attendances as CR as part of a small team. Provided evidence, such as drawings and cost estimates, in the discussions for a large variation order in the contract. Developed strong knowledge in commercial diving, both surface and saturation, and site remediation and restauration activities - Attended suitability surveys for offshore Oil & Gas project - Attended ship loading operations of project equipment as MWS - Developed strong analytical and practical skills to sea-fastening of medium and large structures for sea and HPU transportation - Numerous document reviews for Marine Warranty Surveyor’s purposes of large prefabricated modules.
