Head of Institutional Relations

Dec 2018 - Apr 2020
I was responsible to develop opportunities to consolidate ongoing operations, as well as new businesses through diversification of operations, aligned with the CEO´s targets and through means of close interactions with Directors, such as CCO, CFO, COO, New Projects and Legal, mainly. I enabled, as an example, a Project Investment of USD250 millions involving a LNG port terminal, part of a total investment of USD3 billions to strategically supply gas to the industrial park of the State of São Paulo as an alternative source to Bolivia´s gas, the then sole supplier; this project is subject to authorities´ approval. In order to implement new projects, I represented the company on frequent meetings before authorities in Santos (Port Authority – CEO and Directors -, City Government – Mayor and Secretaries -, etc), State of São Paulo Government (Governor and Secretariats, etc) and Brasilia (Regulatory Agency – ANTAQ´s Directors -, Ministry and Executive Secretary of Infrastructure, Secretary of Ports, etc), as well as before sectorial Associations (ATP, ABTP, ABTRA, etc). International Representative - Latin America
-
Feb 2016 - Dec 2018
I widened the coverage from only Brazil to Latin America, representing the Port of Antwerp´s interests, such as on behalf the Port Authority (APA), APEC (Antwerp/Flandres Port Training Center) and PAI (Port of Antwerp International), in full alignment with the Vice-President of International Network based in Belgium. I was responsible for marketing and promotion of the port with activities developed in Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador and Mexico before national institutions, foreign trade associations, beneficial cargo owners (BCOs) such as exporters, importers, as well as NVOCCs, Freight Forwarders, Chambers of Commerce, Port Authorities, among others. In this period, the Market share of the Port of Antwerp in Brazil increased by 7% and in LatAm by 15%, while the cargo flows of exports and imports grew 11% in tonnage between the Port of Antwerp and LatAm, a higher rate than experienced by competitor ports in the region. Director for New Developments (part time)
-
May 2012 - Apr 2013
Through structuring and development of Technical and Economical Feasibility Studies, I enabled the implementation of a state-of-the-art Passenger Cruise Terminal in the Port of Santos, corresponding to an investment of USD300 millions, in full alignment with the Global and Regional CEOs. This project was part of an integrated revigoration plan of the Valongo area in the Port of Santos, so I fully interacted with the City Government of Santos (Mayor and Secretaries), Port Authority (President and Directors), Federal authorities and institutions. Commercial Director
-
Dec 1995 - Mar 2010
I prospected and attracted new clients such as Shipping Lines, Beneficial Cargo Owners (BCO) - Exporters, Importers -, as well as NVOCCs, Freight Forwarders, etc, enabling to reach a record market share among container terminals of 35% in the Port of Santos and 55% in the Port of Rio de Janeiro. Through negotiations with clients in Brazil and abroad, I managed and renewed contracts totaling USD150 millions annually, in full alignment with CEO´s targets. I succeeded on achieving the company´s first multi-year contract with the largest global container operator (Maersk Line). I implemented and coordinated the commercial approach of the Container Terminal in the Port of Imbituba (State of Santa Catarina) during the operations during almost 3 years. Show less
