  Was recommended to join our high school newspaper publication. I had no previous experience in journalism and had limited knowledge using adobe services, but going through the class I learned a lot. I would now say that I have an intermediate comprehension using Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom, and Premier Pro.As a reporter, I interviewed students, parents, teachers, and even the superintendent. We were a small publication staff so we all helped one another and I learned that meeting deadlines were crucial in achieving a successful print. I enjoyed this class as it pushed me beyond my comfort zone. Always stayed after school for publication week to get it ready for the printers. Show less

  Got accepted into the City of Topeka's Topeka Way To Work summer program. This was a paid internship and I've learned a lot about what goes on behind the scenes in the city. I filled out the W4 form for the first time, set up my direct deposit, and received my first paycheck. Exciting stuff. I was placed in the Municipal Court, I learned to clock in and out, and performed repetitive task such as coaming through citations and assuring they're all cataloged digitally, shredding and stapling documents among other miscellaneous tasks unsupervised.
