Post-doctoral Fellow at the Faculty of Human Movement Sciences for the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Classification Research and Development Center for Vision Impairment. The Centre is working towards the development of evidence-based classification systems for athletes with vision impairments in Paralympic Sports. My role is to: 1. Design research studies including for example, (i) Delphi reviews to collect expert consensus on what the specific needs are for the development of a classification system for the sport of interest, (ii) studies where we simulate vision impairments in skilled sighted athletes to establish the minimum level of impairment that affects sport performance which then makes an athlete eligible to compete in para-sports, (iii) studies working with para-athletes who have vision impairments to investigate the relationship between vision impairment and sport performance to help establish the most appropriate criteria for sport classes. 2. Data analysis 3. Communicate these research findings to the sport's administrators and translate them into recommendations for a classification system that can be used in sports practice 4. Write up the results for publication in scientific journals 5. Provide guidance to other research groups setting up similar research programs for other sports Show less
